the main bathroom renovation: part 1
Well.
Our house is officially “done”.
We have now changed every single space in the house since buying it, The date that I finally completed this renovation was almost exactly 6 years after we moved in. It was the last room to be renovated. We almost didn’t do it- it was honestly pretty ok before. It was lacking in storage space. The vanity was impossible to organize because of plumbing that took over the entire space. Any improvement in storage space is helpful now that there are four people living in this house! So a better vanity was my main reason for wanting to do this- my second reason is Leanne Ford. We’re best friends now. But i’ll talk about that later. I’ve been obsessed with Leanne Ford’s signature concrete wall treatment that she’s been doing on her HGTV show- I even saw it in person beforehand and I just HAD to do it somewhere. My husband said if I did it all myself (like seriously leave him alone) I could do it. I documented the process on Instagram stories. It was many, many, many weekends of trial-and-error, many ruined items of clothing, still, I would do it again. I consider myself a “leanne ford wall treatment” expert now. I’m getting ahead of myself though, this is only part 1.
Lets look at some “before” pics!
Not awful, I know. What you can’t see is the shower which was an extremely yellowed tub-surround with a sage green waterproof wallpaper on top.
The below photos are crappy screen grabs from my insta stories (HIGHLY RECOMMEND MY “BATH RENO” HIGHLIGHT FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT) but you get a better idea of what it really looked like.
Below are my inpso pictures:
Common themes:
-textured wall
-bright
-clean lines
-statement faucet
-textured light fixture
I created this moodboard- almost everything about it changed as the renovation went on. We decided to keep our floors instead of doing the small neutral pebble tile. Also, when i received the chrome faucet in the photo it just looked so mediocre. Returned immediately. I returned the oval mirror as well. Again, the rest of the space is so organic and calm- it was able to handle a more unique mirror and faucet.
It’s all about balance.
I can’t wait to share the “after”
Hope you’re inspired!
