holiday hosting tips
I cant believe the holidays are just around the corner! What I love most about this season is all the family gatherings, dinners, and guests coming to visit! As you may know, we have a second home nearby that we Airbnb and it’s really been a great learning experience about what guests need to feel not only comfortable- but really pleased with their entire vacation.
I partnered with Serena and Lily to show you guys their best-in-class bedding and to share tips on how to be the best host ever!
I chose the positano linen sheets in the Eucalyptus color. I’m really drawn to sage greens right now and it ties in with our rug! The duvet and shams are from the same positano collection in white. The linen has the most beautiful natural texture- I sometimes put on fake tan before bed and it colors the sheets but that will NOT be happening with these babies. I’d rather stay pale.
The alpaca throw at the end of the bed is honestly the most beautiful throw i’ve ever owned. It has the prettiest subtle pattern and it’s surprisingly so warm. An extra blanket or throw at the end of the bed is great incase your guests run cold.
I love this extra long throw pillow so much I personally don’t like to put more than one throw pillow on the bed. I think one long one that goes across both sleeping pillows looks the best and most streamlined.
The number one most crucial element to being a great host whether its an Airbnb or your parents staying for the holidays- THE BEDDING. It needs to be clean, stain free, soft, and smell good. Your options are to get cheap sheets and have them fall apart after 10 washes (yup, its happened) or invest in higher quality sheets that get better and softer with time. My secret to really amazing feeling sheets is to wash them once a week with this fabric softener. It smells like someone’s eating a fresh glazed donut in a lavender field. Trust me, it’s amazing.
In our Airbnb we always leave a stack of fluffy towels on each bed- I just think its more inviting and it prevents any confusion. These Serena and Lily ones are the thickest and fluffiest i’ve ever felt. I prefer white towels so they can be bleached, but I think one small black towel for makeup removal is a good idea too. Finish off the bathroom with a thick fluffy bath mat.
I like to leave a basket of toiletries in the room. It’s small but makes a huge impact. Something that most people don't think about when coming to Utah for their ski trip is sunscreen! The elevation at the resorts is so high you get burned within a few hours!
Other tips on being the best host you can be:
Have water in the room- either in bottles or in a pretty carafe
Have different types of pillows on the bed- fluffy and firm
Spray all linens with a linen spray for extra freshness and to get out wrinkles
Provide slippers or a robe
A candle is not a necessity but it’s such a lovely addition
I hope you guys found this helpful and are excited to host for the holidays!
